But the Match Of The Day presenter and ex-England striker revealed to followers on social media that he incurred an eye-watering injury in his own kitchen.
Gary, 58, showed the image on Instagram after cooking in the kitchen.

He showed his outstretched fingers, complete with stomach-churning blisters bubbling up across three of them.
In addition to the image, Gary wrote: “Must remember in future that when cooking, it’s best and certainly less painful, not to cook myself.”

His 976,000 followers soon took to the social media site to express their shock and horror.
Celeb pal Eammon Holmes wrote: “That’s why I just prefer the eating bit. Heal well my friend.”
His Match Of The Day colleague, Alan Shearer, posted: “Ouch!” followed by a shocked emoji.
His ex-wife Danielle Bux also chimed in, posting a series of ghost face emojis.
Another follower commented, “What were you cooking!? Your hand?”

Gary’s stint in the kitchen may have resulted in him “cooking himself” but the eligible bachelor fuelled rumours that he’s romancing cook Gizzy Erskine.
Last month they were linked after they were seen attending a music festival together.
Gary ‘only had eyes’ for the Channel 4 cookery show star, 39, according to an eyewitness at the All Point East Festival in London.
