Strictly judge Anton Du Beke was not given a warning by show bosses, his spokesperson has confirmed, following claims he took things “too far” on Saturday (October 21).
The 57-year-old made a bit of a naughty joke towards his fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood – and it was claimed bosses weren’t impressed.
However, Anton’s reps have now broken their silence to clarify the reports.
Strictly judge Anton Du Beke makes naughty joke
During Saturday’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing, Anton got a bit cheeky with his fellow judge Craig.
Anton’s risque joke came while he was giving comments on Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin’s samba.
While praising the duo, Anton joked that he and Craig had done a similar dance together while naked.
“I said: ‘Why don’t we try that lift?’ So he [Craig] came at me and I said: ‘Shouldn’t you put some clothes on?’ he quipped.
“The only reason I’m telling you this is because I have nothing to say about this dance — it was pretty much perfect,” he then said. Whilst the audience found the joke funny, bosses reportedly didn’t.
Strictly bosses issue Anton Du Beke with warning after dirty joke
Speaking to The Sun, a source claimed that bosses had had a word with Anton over his joke. “Producers reminded Anton that Strictly is a family show and cheeky, subtle innuendo for the adult viewers is fine but he’d taken things a little too far,” they claimed.
Fans seemed to see the funny side of Anton’s comment. “Wow Anton got a dirty mind ha ha,” one viewer tweeted.
“I’ll never get rid of that image of Anton and Craig now,” another joked. “Still laughing at Anton’s joke story about the ‘lift’ with Craig ‘he should have put clothes on’ Brilliant! Love Anton’s humour,” a third wrote.
The BBC declined to comment. However, a spokesperson for Anton advised ED! the story was not true and Anton hasn’t been spoken to.
Eddie Kadi becomes fourth celebrity to leave
In other Strictly-related news, Eddie Kadi became the fourth celebrity to leave the competition last night (Sunday, October 23).
The comedian went up against Zara McDermott in last night’s dance-off. However, the judges unanimously voted to save Zara instead.
“I’ve really enjoyed this, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do – I love dancing,” Eddie said.
“This has been the highest moment of my career – it’s the happiest I’ve ever been. But not just for me – my family – my little baby girl is at home doing the Men in Black dance,” he then continued.
“More importantly, this little African boy, I just wanted my culture to shine. Everything I stand for, when it comes to my comedy, when it comes to my presenting, is based on my culture, is based on my upbringing and I wanted that to shine most importantly,” Eddie then added.
“Even more importantly this wonderful Queen [Karen Hauer], there are two parts to this show. We want to entertain. I believe that God has brought this to me. I just want to make people happy and this gem over here has kept me happy – I love you so much. God bless you.”
