Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke once revealed the truth behind rumours of a feud with Bruno Tonioli.
Bruno Tonioli left the show for good in 2022, with Anton taking his place on the judging panel. The Italian is on Britain’s Got Talent tonight (Thursday, May 30).
Strictly star Anton Du Beke on truth about Bruno Tonioli ‘feud’
Back in 2021, Anton replaced Bruno as a judge on the show. This was after Bruno was unable to travel due to filming commitments in the US.
Anton also replaced Bruno as a judge in 2022. Since 2023, he has been a permanent judge.
After Anton’s initial appointment in 2021, Bruno joked in an interview with The Sun On Sunday: “Good for him, he needs the money,” sparking rumours of a feud between the two.
However, during an interview with The Sun in September 2022, Anton revealed that he had no hard feelings over Bruno’s remark.
“I think he was just mucking around. I can imagine him saying it,” he said.
“It looked more punchy than it was. So I didn’t get the hump over it at all. It actually made me laugh.”
Anton Du Beke hasn’t spoken to Bruno
However, Anton did reveal at the time that he hadn’t spoken to Bruno since it was revealed that he had replaced him.
“I haven’t spoken to him. I haven’t spoken to any of the judges. It was all down to circumstance really. The situation with flying still isn’t ideal — we all know how many flights are being cancelled — and Bruno said to the BBC, ‘Listen, I can’t do both shows. Thank you very much and good luck,'” he said.
However, Bruno was more complimentary about Anton in another interview.
“I think Anton has done a fantastic job. He deserves to be on that seat. It’s a 10 from me. Carry on. Do me proud,” he said in a statement.
