Twitter users – in the (ahem) typically reasoned and composed fashion for which the social media platform is known – have come down on the series of Nationwide adverts starring singing sisters Flo & Joan like a megaton of flaming bricks, blasting them as the “most annoying ads on TV”.
The musical comedy performers have proved more contentious but possibly less popular than Marmite with their whimsical Sisters, Crimbo Limbo and Small, Small House ditties.
But now viewers are claiming to mute their TVs when they appear during ad breaks to avoid hearing their catchy tunes.

One Twitter user has even said they will set up a petition to have the talented duo removed from screens worldwide.
Not being funny but those @AskNationwide singing sisters adverts are just DREADFUL. Honestly they are worse than @comparethemkt opera singing bloke. Never used my mute button so much during adverts now. Nationwide sort it out man for the sake of our ears.

Some users even claimed the pair’s playful harmonies and light comic touches left them feeling physically affected. Now that’s a powerful earworm.

And it seems for many that, having provoked such deeply anti reactions, twee time is over. Won’t somebody please think of the innocent televisions?

Does just tweeting something in shouty capitals count as an actual petition? And which department of the internet police enforces this Nationwide sisters ban once it has been passed as law?

In a bid to convince Nationwide’s social media monitors to reconsider airing the ads any longer, some have indicated switching accounts could help with the resistance movement.
Might be more effective to speak to someone at the bank in person rather than announcing the cancellation of a mortgage to a few dozen followers with no professional link to Nationwide, though.
not to be dramatic but the singing sisters on the nationwide adverts make me want to move banks
