Michelle Keegan has always been a major source of style inspiration to us, and seeing as holiday season is officially on the fast approach, we thought it was high time that we caught up with the 31-year-old Our Girl actress’ hottest fashion advice.
Somehow between filming, jetting around the world with hubby Mark Wright and designing and shooting her latest collection with online fashion giant Very.co.uk, Mich set aside time to talk about her summer plans, how she expertly avoids excess baggage charges and the one item she’ll be packing in her suitcase above all else. What was the inspiration behind the high summer range?
“The collection is very girly this season. I love summer – especially going on holiday – but in the heat I need to feel comfortable at all times so personally speaking, that was an important focus for the collection. The dresses are very floaty and feminine with gorgeous colours and prints. The whole edit is easy to wear and style, which is essential on holiday as you don’t want to spend lots of time thinking about your outfit.”
What does the relationship with the brand mean to you?
“What I love most about Very is that it creates comfortable but stylish clothes that make you feel so good about yourself when you wear them.”
If you had to choose, what would you say is your favourite piece from the collection?
“Oh, that’s so tough. I’d have to say the midi length, yellow cocktail dress (£65). Oh, and I also love the denim button-down dress (£45); I actually wore it to the collection launch party.”

Let’s talk holiday plans – where are you going this year?
“I’m going to Majorca and I can’t wait. I’m attending a wedding while I’m there too, so I’ll definitely be wearing one of the dresses from the collection to it.”
So you’re more into beachy getaways than city breaks?
“Oh, definitely!”
Do you have any goals for summer 2018?
“I want to really focus on my wellbeing and drink more water. I’m always so busy; I just want to make every moment count and come away with memories I’ll cherish.”
Everyone finds packing for a holiday so difficult: do you have any expert tips?
“I’m always the girl that packs way too much for a holiday, so I’m going to be strict with myself this year. The rule I’m going to follow is: pack one look for each day and each night, and then add in three extra back-up outfits. Hopefully planning out all of my outfits ahead of the holiday will stop me from adding in bits I don’t need as I go along.”
How do you make sure you feel confident when you’re poolside or at the beach?
“I think looking good is all about feeling good – make sure you drink lots of water as, not only will it keep you hydrated in the heat, it’ll also keep your body healthy. And always wear something you feel comfortable in and that makes you feel beautiful, but it a swimming costume or an embroidered cover-up.”
