Asda launches new range of Harry Potter cakes – and they’re magic!

The perfect birthday treat for everyone, whether Slytherin or Hufflepuff

| Updated:

If you’re a Harry Potter fan and you have a birthday coming up, then Asda has just the thing to make the occasion extra special.

The supermarket chain has just launched a new range of cakes dedicated to the famous boy wizard.

There are three different options available, including a platter of 12 cup cakes, four slightly larger gift cakes and a full-size birthday cake.

And with each one lovingly decorated with the various Hogwarts school crests, they look every bit as magical as the character himself.

Perfect for a big party, the platter of 12 cup cakes (£7) includes three cakes for each of the four Hogwarts houses – Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.

Each cake consists of a light sponge with delicious frosting – along with an edible crest on the top.

And if your child happens to be reading one of J K Rowling’s novels, the platter itself even transforms into a bookmark.

Asda is also offering Harry Potter gift cakes. Costing £4 each, these beautifully decorative items are slightly larger than the cupcakes. Again, though, they are available in each of the Hogwarts crests.

But the best of all has to be the full-size birthday cake, which resembles the entire Hogwarts shield, complete with all four house crests.

A fluffy chocolate sponge with a bronze sheen, this £12 cake is sure to get people coming back for a second slice, whether they’re a Harry Potter fan or not.

A spokesperson for the Finsbury Food Group said they are thrilled with the new range.

He said: “Harry Potter is loved and enjoyed by people of all ages, and we’ve created the perfect range of celebration cakes, thinking of something for everyone – no matter what Hogwarts house they are in!

“We’ve made sure the range includes celebration cakes that can be show-stopping centrepieces, to gift cakes that you are proud to present to your friends and family!”

Since the first Harry Potter novel was published in 1997, the franchise has become a global phenomenon.

In all, J K Rowling has published seven novels in the series. There has also been a successful run of films based on the character and his friends.

And you can now add a range of birthday cakes that are every bit as magical.
