Iceland shoppers can get a FREE turkey for their Christmas dinner – but there’s a catch

With little over a week to go till the big day, Christmas dinner preparations are most likely well underway.

However, if you haven’t got your turkey yet, we might just have some good news for you.

Supermarket Iceland is giving away free turkeys that usually cost £15.

The Bernard Matthews Golden Norfolk Basted Turkey Crown serves between six and ten people and is free to anyone sharing their name with the famous poultry producer.

Yes, if your name is Bernard or Bernadette Matthews you can get a free turkey this Christmas.

The store said the offer would free up more cash for shoppers to spend on mince pies and pigs in blankets.

However, it’s only available in store till Tuesday December 17, until stocks last.

Those who share their name with the turkey can head to their local store and simply show their ID to the cashier.

The free turkey crown will then be handed over.

The turkey usually cost £15, but Iceland has cut the price by a fiver to just £10 until the 17th, should your name not be Bernard.

My dad’s called Bernard, and I’m called Matthew – does that count?

Bargain hunters have joked on Twitter that they’re hoping to legally change their names to qualify for the offer.

Others asked if it counted that he was called Matthew and his dad was called Bernard.
