The morsels, similar to McCain’s already popular smiley face-shaped product, are being targeted at kids who want a fun accompaniment to their dinners.

A 454g bag will cost just £1 for and contains mash potato encased with a crispy coating.

They can be cooked from frozen.

The Unicorns are cheaper than the McCain Smiles, which cost 19p more at £1.19 for the same sized 454g bag online at Iceland.

It’s not the only unicorn-shaped product Iceland sells.

Bernard Matthews has made turkey pieces shaped into the legendary creatures.

The meaty, breaded treats cost £2 per 420g bag.

Elsewhere, discount supermarket chain Aldi is selling a Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake to rival the iconic Colin the Caterpillar cake.

The original Colin cake was launched in 1990 and has become a go-to for parties.

Sainsbury’s previously unveiled a caterpillar cake called Wiggles for £6 while Tesco sells Curly the Caterpillar for £6.
