Phillip Schofield’s weight loss method that helped him lose 9lbs

Weight loss resulted in questions about 'whether he was all right'

Phillip Schofield underwent significant weight loss several years ago, which he credited to a popular diet plan.

The Dancing On Ice host revealed in 2014 he lost over one and a half stone due to the approach.

However, according to reports, This Morning star Phillip also admitted the change in his eating did leave him “really hungry”.

It was first reported Phillip was following the 5:2 diet in April 2013.

He reportedly told audience members during a break in filming for Mrs & Mrs that he had shed 9lbs through the plan.

Phillip was quoted as saying: “I’ve been doing it for about three weeks and am really hungry.”

5:2 was particularly popular at the time and garnered lots of media coverage.

It involves those following it fasting for two days a week and reducing their calorie intake to 600 (men) or 500 (women).

‘I can’t keep weight on’

By the following year, Phillip had dropped even more weight and addressed the matter during an appearance on Alan Carr: Chatty Man.

It was reported in June 2014 that 5: 2 led to him going from 12 and a half stone to under 11 stone.

Phillip explained to host Alan: “I saw a picture and thought, you look a bit porky.

I wanted to be 11 stone. It took nine or 10 months and now I am.

Phillip also noted how the dramatic weight loss meant others sometimes questioned whether he was unwell.

“My stomach is now so small I have hardly any appetite and can’t keep weight on,” he claimed.

“People say: ‘Are you all right, are you all right?'”

Phillip also joked he had endured hallucinations during the course of his mission to lose weight.

Dancing On Ice airs on ITV on Sunday February 20 at 6pm.
