Getting a young child to accept a new sibling can be a tricky business when they’ve been used to having their parents’ sole attention all their lives.
But Adam Thomas and his wife Caroline have chosen a sweet way to include eldest son Teddy with his newborn sister.
The former Emmerdale actor has shared an adorable video on Instagram Stories showing the moment Teddy, three, received a gift from sister Elsie-Rose.
“Elsie’s got you a present,” Adam, 29, tells the little boy who exclaims excitedly, “what?!”
“It’s down there, we just found it next to her cot,” his mum can then be heard saying, as Teddy finds the gift bag beside his sister, who is fast asleep in her Moses basket.
Teddy is delighted when he pulls out a superhero outfit.
“A Flash costume!!!” he shrieks as he jumps up and down in glee.
“What?” says Adam, pretending to be surprised. “What do you say to Elsie?”
Teddy then replies: “Thank you Elsie,” rushing over to her cot.
Adam then shared a picture of the toddler looking the part in his new red and yellow costume with a red mask.
Adam and Caroline were delighted to welcome their daughter earlier this month.

Caroline, a dance teacher, and Adam found out they were having a girl before she was born.
Since then, they’ve been preparing Teddy to have a sister, as Caroline previously admitted in her column for OK! Online that he’d had been hoping for a brother.
She said: “Ted is so excited to have a sibling, he can’t wait. At first he said he wanted the baby to be a boy, but I think that’s just because he’s a boy.

“But now he’s really come round to the idea, and he can be the big brother and look after her.”
He’s probably even more convinced about having a sister now she’s given him a gift he loves!
