Alan Carr’s Channel 4 chat show Chatty Man is coming to an end after 16 series, according to reports.
The comedian is believed to have said the decision to end its run was due to not being able to cope with competition from rival chat shows hosted by Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross on the BBC and ITV respectively.
According to The Sun, at the launch of his new book Alanatomy, he said: “I just think that the art of the chat show has evolved unless you can get the amazing guests all the time that Norton gets.”
He added that he did not agree with the schedule move to a Thursday slot and that the programme “feels like a party show, a Friday show”.
Alan, 40, said: “Three guests a week and Channel 4, God love ‘em, extended it to 30 episodes — that’s 90 guests who are relevant and people are interested in, up against the amazing Norton and Jonathan Ross.
“I’ve gone as far as I can with Chatty Man. Won a Bafta, won two NTAs.”
Alan Carr’s Chatty Man began in 2009 and has spawned 180 episodes – and has seen him talk to star guests including the likes of Rod Stewart, Kim Kardashian, Adele and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Alan will launch a new comedy programme on Fridays on Channel 4 in the 8pm time slot, called Alan Carr’s Happy Hour.
He said: “It’s a Friday show, fun. The venue is absolutely amazing, it’s not a TV studio.”
He added that he is “involved with my own production company so I’ve got a say”.
