It’s the news The One Show fans have been waiting for. New mum Alex Jones has revealed that she’ll be returning to the programme on Monday, albeit for just two days a week.
Alex, 40, left the BBC show in January to give birth to her son, Ted. But in a video posted on YouTube, the Welsh presenter announced that she’s ready to return to the hot seat alongside her old sparring partner, Matt Baker.
Cuddling little Ted – her first child with her husband, New Zealand-born insurance broker Charlie Thomson – Alex beamed: “I’m coming back to The One Show on Monday.
“Matt, hopefully you’ll look after me because I’ll be feeling a bit nervous.
“Excited to see everybody, the whole team.”
While she’s been changing nappies at home, Alex’s place on The One Show sofa has been filled by both Michelle Ackerley and Angela Scanlon.
They’ve done a brilliant job but now that she’s got used to the sleepless nights, Alex feels ready to return to the spotlight on a part-time basis.

Naturally, though, she’s not looking forward to being away from her son. As she admits in the YouTube clip, “It will be hard leaving little Ted, as every parent, I’m sure, understands.”
Her pregnancy has been a somewhat public affair. After the birth of her son, Alex and Charlie turned to The One Show viewers to come up with a name.
They received over a thousand suggestions in just three minutes, before settling on Edward Alun Burrell Thomson – Ted for short.
The adorable arrival weighed in at 7lb 11oz.
Last year, Alex fronted a BBC documentary, Alex Jones: Fertility & Me, in which she investigated the problems some women face in conceiving a child.

Thankfully for Alex, there were no such difficulties.
