Alex Jones has paid tribute to midwives by sharing a beautiful photograph taken moments after her son’s birth.
The One Show star, 41, gave birth to her first child, son Teddy, in January 2017.
And she shared a throwback photo of that precious moment over the weekend as a way of saying thank you to all the midwives who helped her through pregnancy and labour.
The snap shows Alex staring at the camera while cradling her newborn baby in a hospital bed.

She added the caption: “On National Midwife Day I’m remembering mine. A huge thank you to all the midwives who cared for me pre and post birth at the Queen Charlotte hospital in London.
“You soothed me when I was properly [bleep] scared, made me laugh out loud when things were getting super tough… (I’m looking at you 9cm) and reassured me about EVERYTHING before and after making me as mentally prepared as I could be for this incredible journey into motherhood.
“That night, when I met Teddy was the best of my life and a huge part of that was down to 2 incredible women who we are so lucky to have as part of our NHS army. #midwivesrock.”
Alex’s heartfelt post came just a few days after she shared a rare photo of son Teddy with fans.
She prefers to keep the little boy out of the spotlight and not show his face on social media, so the snap posted three days ago shows Teddy at a park, his face obscured by binoculars.
Her caption read: “My little boy looking at the world through brand new eyes. I wonder how he sees it?”
Fans couldn’t get over how quickly Teddy is growing up, with one saying: “I can’t believe how time has flown, in my head he’s still a babe in arms!!!”
Another agreed: “Golly! No longer a baby! Where did that time go!!”
A third chimed in: “Wow how times fly only seems like the other day you were pregnant.”
Alex, who is married to insurance broker Charlie Thomson, has written a book about her experiences of first-time parenthood called Winging It! Parenting In The Middle of Life, which she describes as more of a “support manual” than tip book.
Alex recently spoke to OK! magazine about being an older mum, saying she was surprised by the label, and there are benefits and cons to being slightly older when starting a family.
“I’ve got more patience now. I’m in a position where I can provide a better life than I would have been able to ten years ago,” she said.

“If you leave it a bit later than you’re more likely to be at the peak of your career. Jugging the two can be difficult, but it’s okay to say I love my job. I worked hard to get where I am and I want to continue.”
