Alexandra Burke has failed to win some viewers’ hearts so far on Strictly despite her amazing dancing skills, but now fans have taken to social media to defend her.
Poor Alexandra has been the victim of some pretty harsh comments from viewers and the press since she took to the Strictly dance floor.
She’s been branded over-emotional and fake, and some viewers have complained that she’s got an unfair advantage because she has danced in West End shows, including Sister Act – which was choreographed by Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood.
There have also been rumours of trouble between Alexandra and her professional dance partner Gorka, too – even though they’ve both consistently denied it.
Even controversial Katie Hopkins got in on the act, saying she could “see right through” Alexandra.

But it seems the negativity has gone too far now and as the semi-final approaches, fans are rallying round to throw their support behind the former X-Factor star.
One fan said the relentless criticism was a “witch hunt” and asked: “Why are we so keen to see someone fail?”
Another said it was “total disrespect” and pointed out that Alex lost her mum at the start of the series, so it’s no surprise she is over-emotional.
And professional dancer Oti Mabuse, who was paired with Jonnie Peacock, jumped to reassure Alexandra, too.
“You’ve been nothing but genuine,” Oti wrote. “I hope you keep your light shining NO MATTER WHAT!”
And the love just kept coming for Alexandra with fans rushing to defend her.

Meanwhile fans were also quick to criticise the re-emergence of an old video featuring a (pretty awks) moment when Alexandra claimed to have brought the phrase ‘elephant in the room’ to Britain.
The clip, from 2012, has been doing the rounds on social media.
“Hi hun,” one sharp-witted fan wrote. “5 years ago called, they want their non-story back.”
