Amanda Holden has opened up about her relief and pride after her daughter, Lexi Hughes, successfully passed her A-level exams.
The good news comes after a challenging period for Lexi, who was recently hospitalised due to a severe E. coli infection.

While on a family holiday in Corfu, Lexi received her results.
“Congratulations to our @lexi.hughes,” Amanda shared on her Instagram Story, accompanied by a picture of Lexi. “We couldn’t be prouder. All the grades and 1st choice uni. What a bloody relief.”
The family celebrated at a local restaurant in Corfu, where the chef created a last-minute cake to honour Lexi’s academic achievements.
In the next snap, the Britain’s Got Talent judge donned a glamorous yellow dress as she posed with the restaurant staff. “A fantastic evening celebrating our girl @lexi.hughes,” she wrote. “Thanks to @toulaseaside for our surprise cake.”
The final image showed a visibly emotional Lexi reading the message on her cake.
These moments of happiness were a welcome change for the family, who recently endured a serious health scare.
Amanda Holden on daughter’s health ordeal
Just last month, Amanda opened up about the moment Lexi was admitted to the hospital with life-threatening symptoms associated with a rare strain of E. coli.
During her recovery, Amanda – alongside her husband Chris – was glued to Lexi’s bedside. The couple feared the worst as their daughter was at risk of contracting sepsis – a potential and deadly complication of the infection.
“Hearing the word sepsis was terrifying to say the least,” Amanda recounted the harrowing experience to The Sun.

Lexi’s illness came during a critical time as she was preparing for her A-levels, adding an extra layer of stress for the family.
Amanda shared that – initially – the symptoms were thought to be linked to “exam stress”, as Lexi complained of “bloating and stomach cramps”. However, further investigations diagnosed her with a bacterial infection.
This led to a series of tests which eventually diagnosed Lexi with the VTEC E. coli infection. However, this baffled the family and medical team as they scrambled to trace the source of the infection.
Thankfully, after a five-day hospital stint and ongoing medical follow-ups, Lexi has been on the road to recovery.
