Just hours after posting a heart-felt message on twitter about reconciling with his estranged wife, Faryal, Amir Khan has reportedly left the country.
And why? Well rumour has it he’s gone down under to appear in series 17 of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
The Sun reports that Amir has already landed in Oz, and that I’m A Celeb bosses are confident they will get him on the show – something they’ve been trying to do for some time.
“It’s been touch and go for a while, but now that he’s in Australia they’re confident he’ll end up in the camp — even though it isn’t yet signed and sealed,” a source told the paper.
Previously, it had been suggested that Amir’s Muslim faith would prevent him from carrying out some of the show’s tasks because he wouldn’t know how the bugs used in challenges had been killed, and he apparently didn’t want to take part unless he could put 100% into the trials.
“Amir would be keen for the challenge to show people what he’s made of but unfortunately it would interfere with his Muslim faith,” a spokesperson for Amir told the Sun.
“He wouldn’t want to do something half-hearted but challenges that involve eating would see him having to step aside so he wouldn’t want to look like he wasn’t committed to the show.”

However, with the boxer now having touched down in Brisbane, it seems that he has struck a deal with ITV bosses to appear.
“ITV have been trying to get him to do the show for years so this is a real coup for them. They think he’ll make great TV,” a mole revealed.
But any ideas producers had for Amir striking up a relationship in the camp have been dashed following his loved-up tweet yesterday – something a show insider did not hold back on commenting on.
“They had hoped that as a newly-single man there could be a jungle romance with some of the sexy singletons there. But that’s now looking unlikely,” the source told the Sun.
“Meanwhile Amir’s hoping he can use the show as a springboard to help rebuild some of the damaged public perception of him after his marriage split.”

And although the rumoured celeb line up seems to be increasing by the hour (Corrie’s Jennie McAlpine, Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas, TOWIE’s Gemma Collins and Lauren Goodger and You Tube star Jack Maynard being just a few of the apparent signings) we still have a whole week to wait before we find out for certain who’ll be crossing the famous drawbridge into the camp.
And as we know, a week is a very long – and very changeable – time in showbiz…
