The Chase’s Anne Hegerty has spoken about the responsibility she feels after opening up about her Asperger’s Syndrome.
The quiz show star bravely spoke about her autism when she was on the last series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
During her time on the show she became a source of inspiration for others living with autism but now 60-year-old Anne feels it’s given her a responsibility that she wasn’t planning for.
Speaking to The Metro at the National Television Awards last night (22 January) she said: “I seem to have become the face of autism which isn’t something I was looking for.
“It feels like a responsibility and there are times when I feel people don’t understand what I’m trying to make them understand.”
Anne admitted she found the jungle experience tough and she nearly walked out. But her fellow campmates convinced her to stay and she won hoards of fans for sticking it out.
She added that life has been a complete whirlwind since her success on the show.
She explained: “I haven’t had time to catch my breath. I went straight from the jungle into panto and I only got home earlier this month.”
