Coronation Street fans might not have to wait until Pat Phelan’s return for another death to rock the cobbles.
Viewers watched in last night’s episode as Zeedan Nazir came to the rescue of his estranged wife and her girlfriend Kate Connor as they were attacked by thug Phil.
They had been followed back to the cobbles by Phil after he and his gang tried to intimidate Kate, Rana and Sophie as they enjoyed a day out.
But when Kate sent him on his way by activating her rape alarm, Phil seemed to run off.
However as Kate and Rana returned to the cobbles, he appeared and threw Rana against a wall.

Luckily as she screamed in terror, Zeedan appeared to save the day.
He jumped to the couple’s defence and punched Phil, ending his attack on the women.
Unfortunately it also seems to have ended Phil’s life after he was sent stumbling back into a solid brick wall.
The trio panicked and instead of trying to help the vile attacker, they left him bleeding on the floor.
Despite Kate’s attempts to convince Zeedan that he had just saved them from being attacked and possible raped, he wouldn’t listen.
“I just saw red,” he said as his panic began to rise.

Later Zeedan was horrified to see Phil being taken away in an ambulance in a serious condition after being found by Steve McDonald.
He decided to blame his wife Rana for the assault and the situation he is in.
Zeedan told her: “I could end up going down for it spend the next few years inside. All because I lost it. All because of you.”
However next week Zeedan will reveal plans to flee Weatherfield when he discovers that not only did Phil survive, but that he has given the police a description of his attacker.
