SM:TV live fans were buzzing with excitement when Ant and Dec announced they were bringing the show back for its 20th anniversary this year.
But now that’s made way for disappointment as it has been reported that plans for the reunion this year have been shelved.
The Geordie duo were to reunite with their one-time co-host Cat Deeley for the revival, but the plans have now been cancelled – for now anyway.
A source told The Sun: “Ant and Dec are perfectionists and they don’t want to do anything by halves.
“Given the massive interest in the show’s comeback, they have decided to give themselves another year to make sure it’s absolutely perfect.

“It’s now looking like it will be a 21st anniversary celebration, rather than the 20th. They’re aiming for 2019 instead.”
The presenters have a packed schedule already with Saturday Night Takeaway currently airing.
Britain’s Got Talent is returning next month and both I’m A Celebrity and their new show DNA are being worked on.
However, they will be just as gutted as fans of the show about having to delay it.
In January the duo shared their excitement at bringing the show back, as well as beloved CHUMS, Cat the Dog and Wonky Donkey, for its legion of now grown-up fans.
Ant told the Radio Times at the time: “We can tell you it’s happening, it’s definitely happening, I’m on board, Dec’s on board, Cat’s on board.

“A lot of the old team are getting back together. I think we’ve just booked a studio, I think we’ve got some writers involved.”
A spokesman for ITV has been contacted for comment.
