In an email sent to Piers Morgan, Ant McPartlin has slammed his disrespectful comments about mental health, according to a new report.
The TV star – who won big at the National Television Awards last month despite taking much of the year off to recover from addiction – was said to be upset by Piers’ “belittling” comments about him “sitting on his backside”.
According to insiders at The Mirror, Ant, 43, hit back after the Good Morning Britain host joked about his recovery.
The controversial former journalist, 53, complained about the NTAs honouring the Saturday Night Takeaway presenter, saying he had been “walking the dog for a year” and “sitting on his backside”.
The newspaper’s source says: “Ant sent him an email saying he takes his recovery very seriously and he didn’t appreciate Piers belittling it by saying all he has done is walk the dog.
“Ant did work last year – he presented nearly the whole series of Takeaway and all the audition shows of BGT. He then worked hard on his recovery. To suggest that all he did was walk the dog insults everyone who is in recovery or suffering from mental health issues.”
If @GMB loses at the @OfficialNTAs tonight & Ant McPartlin wins, I'm taking next year off to walk my dog.
And I don't even have a dog.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 22, 2019
The insider continues: “Ant pointed this all out to Piers.”
ED! has contacted representatives for Piers and Ant for comment.

It comes as Ant finally gets back on track after a difficult couple of years, filing for divorce, battling prescription drug addiction, a drink-driving arrest, and a stint in rehab.
It meant him pulling out of his work, presenting Britain’s Got Talent’s live shows and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
But just last week, Ant’s boss Simon Cowell insisted the presenter is the “happiest he’s ever been”.
Speaking on Lorraine alongside BGT judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams, Simon discussed Declan Donnelly being reunited with his best mate.
The music mogul said: “It’s like it never happened. That’s when you know it’s comfortable because it’s just like we’re all back together again, we’re friends.
“These things happen. Yeah, I really did miss him. Then I really felt for Dec last year because we really threw him out there.”
He added: “It’s the happiest I’ve seen him for a long, long time.”
