Antiques Roadshow featured a hat that once belonged to Winston Churchill and viewers couldn’t believe how much it was worth.
During Sunday (August 9) evening’s repeat episode, a man came on with a box of objects he saved from the dump where he works.
What happened with the Winston Churchill hat on Antiques Roadshow?
He said that he often saves antiques he thinks could be worth something and has collected three sheds’ worth over the years.
But one thing he retrieved caught his interest more than anything else, as it contained a signed picture of the Second World War Prime Minister, as well as a black top hat and an old cigar in a cigar case.

With the objects were hundreds of letters from a mother to her son that shed some light on the objects and how they came to be there – in addition to confirming their authenticity.
The owner said of the items: “[I got the box] from the dump. I work there, worked there for 15 years and I get to pull out whatever I like. Mostly antiques.
“I’ve got over 200 letters from a mother to her son. The mother used to work for Winston Chruchill.”
He explained how the letters showed the woman used to cook for Churchill and he would give her gifts to take home.
That’s crazy!
The valuer drew a gasp from the gathered audience when he revealed how much it was all worth.
“We think that your box is worth £10,000,” he said, stunning viewers at home too.
“That’s crazy!” the owner admitted, and when asked where the dump he works is located, he joked, “Dozens of people have asked me, I haven’t told anyone.”
How did viewers react?
The value had BBC viewers amazed.
On Twitter, one viewer wrote simply, “10k OMG #antiquesroadshow” and another echoed, “£10k! #antiquesroadshow.”
A third tweeted: “Well done to the guy from the dump! £10,000 #AntiquesRoadshow.”

Others joked that they too wanted to find the dump where the man worked, or were off to comb their own local one for valuable finds.
“#antiquesroadshow Where’s the dump?” asked one.
“Me on the way ‘to the dump’ tomorrow morning!” another quipped alongside a running GIF.
“Booking a slot at the dump tomorrow,” someone else laughed.
