James ‘Arg’ Argent is taking on the mammoth task of swimming the English Channel for charity and he hopes it will help him lose weight once and for all.
In May, the TOWIE star revealed he wants to shed 10 stone to avoid putting his health at risk.
Now, he has started the intense training to prepare for his big swim.
Arg revealed he is embarking on the huge task for Stand Up To Cancer. He lost his beloved grandad to Prostate cancer when he was a teenager.
The reality star told fans on Instagram: “I’m very proud to finally reveal I will be SWIMMING THE CHANNEL in aid of @su2cuk. My grandad died of Prostate Cancer when I was in my teens, I’m doing this in honour of him and to raise awareness. It’s also a great chance for me to kickstart my healthy lifestyle and weight loss journey!”

Arg feels there will be people who assume he is going to fail the challenge, but he is determined to prove the “doubters” wrong.
He also has to pass a medical examination before the trial.
He continued: “I know most people will think I will fail and not do it but I will prove those doubters wrong just like I did with the Marathon. I won’t let myself or anyone down. I’m working so hard in order to pass the medical and assessment before I even take on this massive challenge.”
Arg’s famous pals are right behind him.
“Yes son!” commented comedian and presenter Paddy McGuinness.
Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington also showed her support and told Arg: “Proud! Good for you. Keep at it! All about consistency.”

“Go Arg!” added a third fan.
Arg is doing the charity challenge for new show Sink or Swim alongside other celebs, including Georgia Kousoulou and Alex Brooker.
