The presenter shared a post on Instagram responding to the news, and claiming that preparation for her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing was a welcome distraction.
Stefan Sylvestre threw acid in Katie’s face in 2008, as part of a campaign of abuse by her ex Daniel Lynch – leaving her permanently scarred and blind in one eye.
Lynch was given a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years, while Sylvestre was given a minimum of six years, before being eligible for parole.
The parole board have announced that Sylvestre is set to be released, after showing remorse for his actions in an hearing.

“Mr Sylvestre displayed empathy for the victim and expressed remorse and shame for his actions,” they said, in a summary statement.
After a review by a forensic psychologist, the panel claimed that his family and goals for the future would prevent him from returning to criminal activity.
