If you live in Manchester, are under the age of 25 and in need of a heavy dose of vitamin C this evening, you won’t be able to get it at Asda.
The supermarket giant has BANNED the sale of kiwi fruit to anyone younger than 25, and it’s for a really bizarre reason.
Harry Styles is currently touring his solo album, playing the Manchester Arena tonight, and one of his most popular songs is titled – you guessed it – Kiwi.
At a gig in London earlier this week, the singer was pelted with the green fruit, and almost slipped over on one as he moved across the stage.
Speaking to the crowd about his stumble, Harry said: “You may have seen me fall earlier during this song… it appeared to be a kiwi.
“That was the culprit, some green seedy mush. Look, there’s another! This could end up being a problem.”
So in order to keep the singer as safe as possible, the supermarket bosses have decided to question anybody who’s buying the fruit, to make sure they’re using it for the right purposes.

An Asda spokesperson said: “We know our customers love Harry Styles and we feel it’s our duty to protect a fellow Mancunian from any ‘bad kiwis’ amongst us.
“We’d hate to see a repeat of the mishap this evening, so to avoid any slippery situations, we feel this is a necessary measure.”
The retailer has issued a memo to all its staff members this morning, making sure all till operators know about the fruity situation.
They will be asked to ID anybody under the age of 25 that approaches tills while carrying kiwis.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 about the incident – which is similar to what Rihanna went through, after fans chucked umbrellas on stage at her in the name of her hit single – Harry said:
“Yeah, I mean definitely rather a kiwi than an umbrella, less sharp edges but umbrellas don’t bruise. I haven’t been hit straight on with a kiwi yet.”

If kiwis are banned, fans may have to look elsewhere for inspiration about what to fling on stage with the singer.
Other songs on Harry’s album include one simply titled “Woman” and another called “From the Dining Table” – something to watch out for, Harry.
