Asda, Morrisons and Aldi selling low-noise fireworks after Sainsbury’s ban

Should they be banned in all supermarkets?

Asda, Aldi and Morrisons are selling low-noise fireworks after Sainsbury’s announced it has banned the sale of fireworks in all of its stores.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the supermarket giant revealed the store had made the decision due to welfare concerns for the elderly and pets.

Despite calls for all supermarkets to ban fireworks, Asda, Morrisons and Aldi have revealed their low-noise alternative.

According to The Sun, both Asda and Morrisons insisted their low-noise fireworks were confirmed before Sainsbury’s made the announcement.

Asda is selling a TNT rainbow selection of low-noise fireworks for £10.

The selection includes 12 different types of fireworks.

The store is also selling a TNT quiet storm multi-shot box for £20.

Meanwhile, Morrisons is offering a Sparkling Jems fountain four-pack for £6.

The supermarket is also giving its customers a Twinkle foundation two-pack for £15.

Aldi is joining the two supermarkets in launching low-noise fireworks as it’s selling a Ready Steady Go box with 15 bangers included.

It comes after a spokesperson for Sainsbury’s announced: “Fireworks are no longer available in our stores.

“Customers can continue to choose from a range of seasonal products, such as glow sticks and light up spinning wands.”

In the UK, it’s illegal to set off fireworks between the hours of 11pm and 7am – except on occasions such as New Year’s Eve and Bonfire Night.

The move was welcomed after the loud bangs and flashing lights often causes distress for animals and older people.

Shoppers were delighted to hear Sainsbury’s have banned fireworks and shared their thoughts on Twitter.

One person said: “Let’s all get behind Sainsbury’s and support their ban on selling fireworks for the sake of our pets, the elderly and wildlife. Thank you and well done Sainsbury’s.”
