Strictly Come Dancing’s Aston Merrygold has become a father for the first time.
The former JLS star – who competed in last year’s Strictly – announced via Instagram on Wednesday that fiancée Sarah Richards has given birth to a baby boy.
Alongside a beautiful photo of him cradling the newborn, who was born on Tuesday, Aston revealed his son’s name is Grayson Jax Merrygold.
He added: “Life is now complete.”
Naturally, the former X Factor finalist, 29, was inundated with congratulatory messages from fans, thrilled that Baby Merrygold has arrived safely.
One wrote: “He is beautiful. Huge congratulations.”
Another said: “What a beautiful addition to the family.”
A third added: “He’s adorable plus I love the name. Congratulations. You will be amazing parents.”
Aston’s fans knew the baby’s birth was imminent, as over the weekend he’d shared a funny snap showing him stretched out sleeping on his kitchen island unit with his car keys and phone at the ready.
He joked it was “the waiting game.” and added hashtags including “keys in hand”, “phone at the ready” and “sleep anywhere”.
Aston and Sarah announced back in September that they were expecting their first child.
And with a due date of January 2018, Baby Merrygold arrived just in time!
The couple became engaged over Christmas, with a sweet picture posted to Instagram showing off Sarah’s gorgeous new diamond sparkler.
Popstar Aston captioned the pic: “Allow me to introduce you all to my fiancée #TheMerrygolds #shesaidyes #enganged #wifey #mummydaddyandbabymerrygold.”
He sweetly tagged the location of the picture as “Cloud 9”.
Aston, who appeared on the last series of Strictly, has been with Sarah for around five years.
The pair previously said they wouldn’t be finding out the sex of their baby.
Announcing the pregnancy in September, Aston told fans: “On May 29th 2017 we found out that our lives were going to change forever! This secret has been so hard to keep, but I’m so excited to finally be able to share the news with everybody that me and my beautiful lady are going to be parents!
“I’m NEVER speechless but words can’t describe how I feel. All I know is there’s no feeling like it! Sarah, I promise to be the best daddy ever to our baby boy/girl.
