This Morning’s Eamonn and Ruth in fits of laughter over Barry Humphries

They struggled to keep it together

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford struggled to contain their laughter during an interview with Barry Humphries on Friday’s This Morning.

Ruth, 58, had to wipe her tears away as the Australian comedian, 84, continuously made jokes throughout their chat, including a comment about his naughty bedroom talk.

Barry was telling the hosts the reason why he doesn’t swear during his shows and why he’s banned the f-word.

Speaking about his shows, Barry said: “I like to offend people up to a point.

“If possible, I like to give deep offence and the people who laugh at the really dirty stuff are all ladies.”

Barry, who is best known for his alter-ego Dame Edna Everage, explained that he bans comedians using the f-word when curating shows.

He revealed: “But I don’t swear onstage. I curated a cabaret season in Australia not long ago and I had to choose all the comedians and the singers and I said, ‘I’m banning the F-word,’ and the comedians complained.”

Barry added: “I said it, and my girlfriend said, ‘don’t say that word, that’s bedroom talk.’ What could she have meant viewers? Please write in.”

Eamonn and Ruth were left giggling at Barry’s cheeky comment but his jokes didn’t stop there.

As Eamonn, 58,  asked Barry about his health, the comic replied: “I’ve had a check up. The gynaecologists have gone over me and gave me the thumbs up.”

Ruth was left sniggering at Barry’s remark as Eamonn and the rest of the studio gave a little chuckle.

Barry also joked that the couple should take their 16-year-old son Jack, who is a big fan of wrestling, to see female mud wresting.

FYI, mud wrestling is often played by women dressed in bikinis or completely naked.

He said: “You must take Max along to see me,” forgetting that their son was actually called Jack.

Barry quickly added: “No Jack. He likes wrestling. Has he seen female mud wrestling? Take him to Hamburg. It’s a great place for a little boy.”

Viewers were also left in hysterics over Barry’s appearance on the daytime show.

One person tweeted: “Barry Humphries is hilarious!!!”
