Black Sabbath star Ozzy Osbourne is no longer able to walk due to his Parkinson’s disease, according to his wife Sharon.
The 76-year-old rockstar was first diagnosed with a mild form of Parkinson’s back in 2003 but didn’t show signs of developing the disease. Along the way, Ozzy has had numerous health scares, including a bad fall in 2019 where he damaged the metal rods in his back.
As Ozzy has grown older, his health has continued to set him back from performing. However, in a new announcement, the Paranoid hitmaker is set to return to the stage – with restrictions in place.
Black Sabbath star Ozzy Osbourne can no longer walk
In an announcement shared on Wednesday (January 5), Sharon revealed on Instagram that Ozzy will be reuniting with the original Black Sabbath members – Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward – for the first time in 20 years.
The special one-off gig will take place at Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5. The show is set to be an “all-star event” that “will celebrate the true creators of heavy metal”.
I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive.
Metallica, Slayer, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Pantera, Anthrax and Alice in Chains have joined the lineup.
In a new interview with The Sun, Sharon stated that Ozzy is “very happy to be coming back and very emotional about this”.
However, due to his Parkinson’s, her husband is no longer able to walk.
“Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilise. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs,” she continued.
Sharon assured fans that “his voice is as good as it’s ever been”.
‘For all my complaining, I’m still alive’
Despite the setbacks, Ozzy remains positive.
During an interview with US radio station Sirius XM this week, he said: “I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive.
“I may be moaning that I can’t walk but I look down the road and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it.”
