Blind Date returns with Vicky Pattison as host on Channel 5 in 2017

Our Cilla's replacement will have a new home on Channel 5

The classic TV, Blind Date, which was hosted by the late Cilla Black for almost two decades, will soon hit our screens by the end of 2017.

But unlike the original, it will be shown on Channel 5, not ITV.

Blind Date aired back in 2003, and saw hopeful (or hopeless) romantics pick a potential partner by asking them three questions.

The winning couple would then be sent on a holiday to see if sparks would fly!

It was understood that there were many TV host’s in the lineup to replace Cilla in the 2017 series.

Those being, Olly Murs 32, Vicky Pattison, 29 and actresses Georgia May Foote, 25, and Helen Flanagan, 26.

But who will follow in the iconic footsteps?

But after much anticipation, the new host has been announced!

Geordie Shore’s star Vicky Pattison will replace the iconic Cilla Black and host the show, which will be aired on Friday nights, instead of the original classic Saturday teatime slot.

But viewers of the classic show don’t seem to be fans of the new plans.

One took to Twitter and said: “@bbspy @TheSun messing with a classic, isn’t there any new ideas out there?”

But following the release of the reports, fans were quick to express their excitment on the comeback of the dating show.

One said: “#BlindDate is returning yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” declared one.

While another tweeted: “I used to love Blind date & always hoped it’d make a comeback.”

A source said: “Blind Date is the original dating show and it’s huge news to bring it back.

“It’s a classic format that will be rebooted to make it young, sexy and modern. Expect sparks to fly.

“In an age of Tinder, you have got to earn the right to love on this show.”

The new series will air on our screens sometime at the end of 2017, with brunette Geordie Vicky Pattison as the host!
