Emmerdale’s top cat, Iain McLeod, has hinted that the rumoured exit of the White family from the ITV soap will be one of the most spectacular of all time.
Their supposed mass-exit has been the source of speculation amongst fans for ages now, with everything from a Lachlan shooting spree to Robert Sugden leaving them bankrupt and homeless suggested as a reason for their departure.

While Lachlan’s hatred for Robert has recently pushed him further over the edge, we could be about to see Robert have a change of heart, with Rebecca imminently about to give birth to his baby.
Could the Lachlan rumours actually be true?
We’ve certainly seen the unhinged side of the teen appear recently. Last week he took Robert on a nightmareish joyride, before pinning him to the ground and promising he will kill him at some point.
Then there was that whole picture-of-his-face-on-a-pumpkin incident with a shotgun.
And, of course, Robert caught Lachlan menacingly threatening to murder his granddad, Lawrence, while he was out cold.
Anyone else spotting a bit of a theme with Rebecca’s son?
All factors are pointing towards Lach destroying the Whites from within.
Currently, the only star confirmed to be leaving Emmerdale is John Bowe who plays Lawrence – but Iain’s hints suggest it’s not just him on his way out.
Speaking to TV Times, he said: “It’s no secret that the White family will be departing in the next few months.
“There’s been speculation there could be a death as part of their exit story, but I don’t want to say too much.
“We are doing something spectacular in January and the Whites will be a major part of that.

Definitely sounds like it could be one of the most explosive departures we’ve seen.
