Of all the big soapie storylines happening this Christmas, the one we’re most excited about is the return of the brilliant Carla Connor to Coronation Street.
Carla, played by Alison King, is back on the cobbles this festive season and according to Corrie boss Kate Oates, she’s given up the booze!
“Our Coronation Street Christmas present is of course the return of Carla Connor complete with leopard-skin coat and plenty of secrets to unwrap over the festive season,” Kate told Radio Times.
“Usually no stranger to a bottle of red wine, Carla is now sticking to soft drinks, but why?
“And will she help Aidan out in his time of crisis?”
Hmm, soft drinks? Could Carla be coming home with a baby bump? Stranger things have happened!

And it’s not only Aidan who’s going to benefit from Carla’s arrival, baby sister Kate is also going to need a bit of help.
Faye Brookes, who plays Kate, teased that her alter-ego will turn to Carla for help with her controversial relationship with married Rana Nazir.

“Carla will be a confidante for Kate 100 per cent,” Faye told Radio Times.
“After all the drama that’s happened to Carla, I don’t think that she is going to judge! Out of everyone, she’s the one Kate is going to turn to.”
Carla left Weatherfield 18 months ago after Tracy Barlow wrecked her wedding to Nick Tilsley.
With Nick gone, but Carla’s true love Peter Barlow back on the cobbles, the scene is set for an explosive return for the brunette businesswoman – especially if she’s got a huge secret to reveal!
