Kim Kardashian has reportedly been held at gunpoint in Paris, prompting her husband Kanye West to abruptly end a performance in front of fans on Sunday night, citing a “family emergency.”
Several fans captured the dramatic moment the 39-year-old rapper stopped the show at the Meadows Festival in New York.
The crowd can be heard singing along when Kanye says over the microphone: “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Family emergency. I have to stop the show.”
Sounding breathless Kanye then disappeared.
It emerged shortly afterwards that the family emergency involved his wife Kim who is currently in France attending Paris Fashion Week.
Her spokesperson Ina Treciokas told CNN: “Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers.
“She is badly shaken but physically unharmed.”
The Yeezus rapper was the headline performer at the Meadows Festival in Queens, New York when the show-stopping moment occurred.
Joe Berg – a fan who was reportedly in the crowd – tweeted about what happened.
He wrote on Sunday: “Dude just ran on stage and grabbed Kanye and he said ‘Sorry guys, family emergency I have to leave the show’ and just ran off the stage. Son.
“Kanye JET off the stage, too.”
He added: “It was wild too because Kanye ignored the dude at first like on some ‘I can’t leave’ and dude wouldn’t leave without Kanye leaving with him.”
At the moment there has been no further word from the Kardashian camp.
Kim is in Paris with her mother Kris Jenner and sister, model Kendall.
Earlier in the day she attended the Balenciaga Fashion Show, wearing no make-up, a trench coat and thigh high boots.
