Linda died in January

The brother of Linda Nolan, Brian, reveals he was diagnosed with cancer just days after his sister’s tragic death.

Following a 20-year-long battle with cancer, Linda died on January 15 after suffering from double pneumonia. The music chart-topper was laid to rest with a funeral in Blackpool, where many stars, including her showbiz family, paid their respects.

However, while grieving over the loss of his sister, Linda’s brother Brian, 69, has also shared more sad news.

Linda Nolan’s brother Brian announces cancer diagnosis

Just three days after Linda died, Brian received the unsettling news that he had level 2 prostate cancer. He is now the fifth of the Nolan siblings to battle the disease.

At 52, Bernie lost her battle to breast cancer in 2013 while older sister Anne, 74, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. 60-year-old Coleen, on the other hand, revealed she had skin cancer in 2023.

“I just want cancer to leave us alone,” an upset Brian told OK!, admitting it felt like he had been “hit by a train” after finding out.

“You start plunging into the abyss of: ”I’m going to die,'” he said.

“The urologist stood up and said ‘We’re going to treat this and we’re going to cure this”, I’m focusing on that and hope to God I can have the courage my sisters had.”

Fortunately, the cancer has not spread further, and Brian will have surgery to have his prostate gland removed.

‘I couldn’t speak’

Upon finding out, Brian initially didn’t tell his sisters about his diagnosis. He believed he was “doing the right thing and I still do”, insisting it would have caused more “tears” during a hard time.

Once Coleen discovered the news, however, the Loose Women star admitted she “couldn’t speak”.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner said she “went completely numb and about an hour later I wanted to punch walls and scream”.

She praised Brian’s positivity, expressing she is “so proud of him”.
