BRIT Awards viewers convinced the live show was HACKED

Strange goings-on during The 1975's performance...

| Updated:

Some people tuning into the Brit awards this evening think something dodgy went down during The 1975’s performance.

The band merrily bounced around on stage to their song The Sound.

However, viewers became confused as pink flashes and derogatory comments about the group jumped on screen.

Among the apparent disses were, “Unconvincing emo lyrics” and “Totally lacking the wow factor”.

Oh, and “Is this a joke?”…

A hacking invasion? Some people certainly thought so and were quick to share their twisted knickers on Twitter.

One person wrote: “Has someone hacked The 1975 performance??”

Another typed: “I feel so bad because they got hacked during their performance #Brits [sic].”

Another viewer asked: “Has the BRITs been hacked?”

Let’s take a moment for a collective ‘Calm down, dears!’ however, as this was all very much part of the planned routine.

The video to the band’s hit The Sound features very similar images…

Indeed some viewers better acquainted with The 1975 were only too happy to offer explanations.

One wrote on Twitter: “You do realise The 1975 performance was meant to go like that? The comments are part of their video. It wasn’t hacked.”

A further fan explained: “Those quotes were from the press before their success. It’s their way of telling them to stick it. Nobody has hacked the #BRITs [sic].”

Another SHOUTED: “EVERYONE IS FREAKING OUT OVER THE TEXT THEY THINK THEY WERE HACKED OML AS IF A HACKER WOULD CHOOSE BABY PINK [sic].”

So, now we know! As you were…
