Britain’s ‘fattest woman’ washed and fed by husband in new doc

Sharon Hill weighs 46 stone

Sharon Hill is 35 years old and weighs 46 stone. She has been dubbed ‘Britain’s fattest woman’.

She may look familiar to you as she was the subject of a Channel 4 documentary in 2015 called Shut-Ins: Britain’s Fattest People.

Sharon had undergone a gastric sleeve operation and lost 14 stone.

But the weight has crept back on and she is now back before the cameras in a new programme called Britain’s Fattest Woman.

The documentary explores just how limiting her weight is on leading a ‘normal life’: “I can’t go in the shower like other people and I miss everyday things like going supermarket shopping,” she’s reported as saying in the Mirror.

“My body is in too much pain to do most things. Some days I hurt that much all I want to do is sit and cry.

“I would love to get a job, I’d like to have a child, travel and see places more.”

Sharon has struggled with her weight since childhood, but teasing at school led to her comfort eating and the problem just getting worse.

She goes on: “I used to cope by eating. I’d go home, grab loads of food, go up to my bedroom and just watch TV and eat.

“It was like the food was suppressing everything in me.”

The documentary reveals that Sharon gained eight stone after marrying her husband Andrew, whom she met in a chat room for “admirers of big women” eight years ago.

Andrew has to feed, wash and dress his wife, but he explains: “I love what Sharon is, I love who Sharon is.”

Sharon is now facing the prospect of a second gastric sleeve op, and says: “I’ve never wanted to be thin, because I don’t know what that’s like.

“But I want to be smaller than I am, so that I can have more of a life.”
