According to The Sun, a Met Office spokesperson said many areas will experience balmy weather this Saturday (June 1), while the mercury could rise further on Sunday to highs of 27C in the central regions and south east.
They said: “If that does happen, it’ll be the hottest day of the year. So far, April 19 holds the record, when temperatures reached 25.8C in Cornwall.”
The spokesperson said the weather until then will be “changeable”, with spells of sunshine and rain expected today (May 30), while Friday will be “considerably warmer”.

By Saturday, temperatures are likely to be in the low- to mid-twenties across the UK.
But the Met Office’s Grahame Madge revealed there is uncertainty over the range of temperatures likely in the coming days.
He said: “The indication is that we could see highs of 28C, isolated highs of around 28C, on Saturday. And on Sunday we could see highs of 29C, even possibly 30C.”
Speaking further, he said the UK will start to see temperatures rising in earnest once the oncoming warm front, referred to as tropical maritime air, starts to pull warmer air across the UK.

The weekend’s sizzling weather isn’t expected to last though, with temperatures forecast to drop on Monday for a “fresher” start to the week.
Speaking to The Sun, Met Office senior meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said: “Over the next few days it will get warmer and warmer, but it doesn’t look like it will last long. From Monday it will be a lot fresher again, dipping back to the mid to high teens.”
