I’m A Celebrity star Carol Vorderman has been battling a secret health scare while in the Australian jungle.
The 55-year-old former Countdown stalwart had been diagnosed with severe bronchitis in the camp.
The ITV show’s medic, Dr Bob McCarron, prescribed high strength antibiotics after Carol fell foul of the lung disease in the I’m A Celebrity camp.
She was also given an inhaler after she experienced chest pains and began to struggle to breathe.
Carol revealed to The Sun: “There’s a coughing virus going around, you will have heard it.
“Mine got worse and worse and worse then on Saturday I had sharp chest pains so I asked to see Bob.
“It was like breathing through bubbles. Once I got the chest pains, I thought I need something.
“He immediately put me on really strong antibiotics, electrolytes and glucose tablets.
“It took me two days to get over it. And by day three I felt much better. I was ill, properly ill.”
Carol reckons that it was spending so much time near the camp fire that made her feel so ill.

She said: “I was really unwell. It was a really bad proper chest infection. I’m still on the antibiotics now.
“You’ve got to remember you’re breathing in smoke the whole time.
“I was trying to do my jobs but they all kept saying just go to bed. I needed to just rest, rather than being in a rainforest.”
Since coming out of the jungle, Carol has been handed a new role.

She said: “I’m the new a**e of Toyboy Warehouse. Yes, sign me up.”
Speaking to The Sun, she said: “Am I looking for Mr Right? Funnily enough, no.
“I meet a lot of men but I’m very happy. I think it’s marvellous.
“I’m not harming anyone. And everyone is single, if you know what I mean.”
