Carrie Fisher had a very difficult battle with drink and drug addiction over the years.
The Star Wars legend was pictured with two beer bottles by her bedside just a month ago, a friend claimed.
They also went on to say that she had completely fallen off the wagon after being teetotal for so long.

The pal added: “Carrie had relapsed around Thanksgiving. I saw her myself high as a kite once, not that long ago.
“Some of her friends I talked to doubted she was ever totally clean and sober because she got doctors’ prescriptions to treat her bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety.”
It has also been revealed that Carrie and her mother Debbie Reynolds, who passed away a day after losing her daughter, will have a joint funeral.
Relatives of the stars are hoping to organise a joint service for the pair.
Carrie, who was 60-years-old, suffered a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles on December 23.
Her mother, 84, died from a suspected stroke on Wednesday.
Todd Fisher, Carrie’s brother told the New York Daily news: “It’s what we want to do, but we’re still working on the mechanics.
“We like the idea, it it’s at all possible. I think it’s appropriate.”

Following Carrie’s death, her actress daughter Billie Lourd, 24, gave a statement: “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly.
“Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
It has also recently emerged that Billie might be getting her mother’s share of the Reynolds’ estate which is being estimated at around $60 million.
Carrie’s pet dog Gary has also been given to Billie.
