Jedward star John Grimes has opened up about his shock cancer scare during his stint on Celebrity Big Brother.
The singer, 33 – best known for being in the group with twin brother Edward – appeared on CBB back in 2011 and again in 2017 – when they came in second place.
But now, with the new series kicking off this week, the boys have reflected on their time in the most famous house in Britain.

Jedward on Celebrity Big Brother
Jedward – who shot to fame on The X Factor – memorably had two stints on Celebrity Big Brother, in 2011 and 2017.
However, John has now shared that he dealt with a worrying health scare during his 2017 stint on the programme.
As the twins entered the house, John fell off stage and ended up requiring medical treatment after injuring his back. Then, in a shock turn of events, he was told in hospital by doctors that he could have had cancer.

John ‘thought he was going to die’
“Another thing that didn’t air is that when we were entering the house, I fell off the stage,” John told OK! Magazine this week. He added: “I hit my back and had to go to hospital for tests. At the time, they gave me a scary diagnosis that I could have cancer.”
Fortunately, John was given the all-clear once that series of CBB had wrapped. However, he candidly admitted: “I went through the experience thinking I was going to die.”
At the time on the show, he made light of the fall. John said in the Diary Room: “Five seconds on the show and I’ve hurt myself!” Pointing out his deflated signature hairstyle, he continued: “You know it’s a bad day when my hair looks like this! Now I have to go to hospital looking like this.”
He returned to the house that evening, with CBB not airing any conversations about a diagnosis and Jedward carrying on as normal.
Edward’s ‘life-threatening’ hospital stay
It’s not the only health scare that the twins have experienced. In 2021, Edward claimed he saw “two white spirits” during his “life-threatening” hospital stay.
The Irish star was rushed to hospital to undergo emergency appendix surgery. But during his stay he claimed the ghosts of two deceased family members helped “welcome him back”.
Taking to his Instagram page, Edward opened up about the spooky experience after he returned home.
