How exciting would it be to see The Spice Girls back together again on this weekend’s X Factor final?
Gosh, it’d be, like, totally cool, right?
Yes indeed it would. But don’t get too excited, folks, cos it ain’t going to happen.
Well, not anymore, according to reports.
Apparently Gem – that’s Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B to us – were due to make their big comeback at this weekend’s X Factor final and perform alongside 5 After Midnight.
However, it seems the exciting plans have sadly fallen through at the eleventh hour.
“The girls were very keen to make it happen and negotiations went on throughout the week,” a source has handily revealed to The Sun.
“But at the end of the day they couldn’t make the schedules work. Mel B was in town for the filming of Lip Sync Battle, but she has to get to New York to start rehearsals for Chicago on Broadway.
“They did everything they could to make the schedules work at the end of the day but it just couldn’t happen.”
Instead – and get ready to be disappointed – it’s believed that last year’s dead-eyed winner Louisa Johnson and Clean Bandit will take the trio’s place instead.
Zzzzz….. We’d rather they’d asked Steps to replace the girls who celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2017. Oh well…
Meanwhile, it looks like the rather brilliant Saara Aalto is due to perform with American Idol star Adam Lambert on Saturday’s live show.
However, it’s still unclear who favourite Matt Terry will team up with.
It was reported over the weekend that his plans to duet with Sam Smith had fallen through and rumours were rife that he was set to sing along side former X Factor winner James Arthur.
However, the gruff northern singer has ruled himself out of the show completely Tweeting: “I won’t be performing on the show. You lot have seen enough of me this year.”
Poor Matt Terry – give the fella a break. Though to be honest, we’d be pretty happy to see him team up with Jason Donovan, who is doing the rounds at the moment.
If you’re not exactly on the edge of your seat about this weekend’s X Factor finale, you might be pleased to know that controversial rapper Honey G is set to make a comeback this weekend.
She returns to the show to perform one last time with the rest of this year’s finalists, including Brattavio. Remember them?
Well, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then performances from the Weeknd, Little Mix and Kylie just might do.
