Cheryl Tweedy has finally had her say about the negativity aimed at her musical comeback.
The singer made her first stage appearance in four years on The X Factor at the weekend to debut her new single, Love Made Me Do It.
But when it was met with some less than complimentary comments the 35-year-old star decided to hit back.
Last night she shared a sassy video of her strutting backstage at The X Factor along with the caption: “Walking away from negativity like .. ✨”.
But that wasn’t all she did.
The mum-of-one also penned a long statement on Twitter to explain how she felt.
She said: “I wanted to start by saying thank you all so much for your lovely comments and support for my performance on Sunday. You may not have read about them but I definitely saw and felt them!
“Having spent 16 years in the public eye I have always been accepting of people’s opinions. Me personally, my music and performances are never going to be for everyone. And that’s OK.”
The singer, whose new single is her first release since 2015’s Only Human, went on to say she “let a lot of things lie but the sheer level of unbalanced negativity towards me in the tabloid press these past few days has been frankly shocking and I need to address it”.

She continued: “This level of relentless abuse should not be tolerated in any walk of life. From my appearance, my body size and shape to my performance and even dragging innocent people into this like they did to Nile Rodgers simply for a clickbait headline is totally uncalled for. It also gives the trolls a bigger voice and platform.
“What’s even more surprising to me is that some of these people are the first to write that we should be being more socially aware and conscious of online bullying and mental health awareness. Is this any different?”
She boldly admitted: “I did watch my performance back and I LOVED IT!”

Loyal fans soon heaped praise on Cheryl for standing up for herself.
One of her followers commented: “@CherylOfficialThe hate is totally unfair, I thought it was great, especially the dance at the end.”
Another wrote: “@CherylOfficial You have a whole army behind you, and we’ll always have your back. Keep being the incredible woman that you are.”
While a third complimented her for juggling a pop career with being a mum to her 20-month-old son Bear, who she has with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, 25.
They posted: “Well I thought @CherylOfficial did fantastic considering she is juggling her career alongside being a mother. Hats off to you! PS I also loved the performance.”

It’s no doubt been a tough time for Cheryl as she has only recently returned to the spotlight.
After the birth of Bear, in March 2017, she took time out from her career to concentrate on being a mum for the first time.
Speaking about motherhood this month, she told The Guardian: “I’d never want to be in my 20s again. My life since the baby, and my life prior to the baby … they’re two different people, in the best possible way.”
