Cheryl mocked for ridiculous boots on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show

Some fans say she looked like a mythical creature

Cheryl had everyone talking about her bizarre choice of footwear during a TV performance last night, and it’s not hard to see why.

The former Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge sang her comeback single Love Made Me Do It on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on Saturday, but viewers were understandably distracted.

She appeared on stage wearing a flowing coat over a black bodysuit and leather shorts, but it was her over-sized grey boots that got everyone talking.

The thigh-high shoes sat tight at the heel but expanded outwards and upwards from there, and of course fans took to Twitter to mock them.

Viewers said the boots made Cheryl look like Mr Tumnus, the half-man, half-goat creature from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, or a centaur from the Forbidden Forest in Harry Potter.

Others thought she looked like she was wearing “half a sumo suit, “waders”, “the back of a pantomime donkey” and the “lower body of an elephant”.

Another Twitter user asked when Cheryl had her sheep-leg transplant, while someone else marvelled that the singer was also working as a hockey goalie.

Cheryl has been touring for her comeback single, but her TV performances have proven hit and miss to date, with some fans defending the 35-year-old and others ripping into her.

The new single, Love Made Me Do It, peaked at number 19 in the charts before tumbling down to 38 and then 77.

But things are looking up for Cheryl, as she is preparing for a new role as dance captain on the upcoming BBC show The Greatest Dancer, an eight-part competition starting on BBC One in the new year.

She will serve as a judge alongside Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison from Glee.
