Cheryl’s spokesperson has poured cold water on the latest rumours about her career plans.
There were reports earlier today that Cheryl could be taking to the West End stage with a guest stint in Chicago.
The Daily Mail‘s theatre columist Baz Bamigboye wrote that the Girls Aloud singer had met with producers about taking on the role of Roxie.
Chicago is currently playing at London’s Phoenix Theatre with Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jnr in the male lead role of Billy Flynn.
Baz claimed that Cheryl, 34, “watched the show on Wednesday with friends. Main producer Barry Weissler and his team, over from New York, also happened to be in the theatre that evening”.
He added that after the singer and producer talked, she is now “certainly one of several names on Weissler’s wish list”.
Her spokesman confirmed to the paper that Cheryl is a “fan of the show” and went to watch it on Wednesday.
“No one has denied that she might wind up appearing in the production,” Baz wrote.
However, Entertainment Daily contacted Cheryl’s rep for comment on the Chicago gig and he denied that she was set to appear.
“This is not true, Cheryl is not in talks to join Chicago,” he explained. “She just went to see it with friends as she is a fan of the show.”
The mother-of-one would be following in some famous footsteps if she takes on the role of Roxie.

The character was played by Renee Zellweger in the critically acclaimed 2002 film of the musical, while on the London stage Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child, Ashlee Simpson from the Pussycat Dolls, Denise Van Outen, Claire Sweeney and Jill Halfpenny, are among famous faces who have played the part.
Cheryl has been getting back into work after having baby Bear with Liam Payne in March 2017.
She’s filmed a pilot to be a captain on a new BBC dance show and has been recording some new music.
Last month she appeared at the Cannes Film Festival as an ambassador for L’Oreal.
There, she told Glamour magazine she has lots of “ambitious plans” for the future.
“I’ve crammed quite a lot in over the last 16 years so I’ve done quite a lot of the stuff that was my dream but I still have a lot of creativity. So, work-wise, I’d maybe like to manage other artists or help on the record label side or directing with an artistic eye,” she said.
Meanwhile, ITV announced today that there would be a shake-up in the 2018 X Factor panel, with Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger not returning as judges.
Sharon Osbourne will be back but only at the live shows.

This could pave the way for Cheryl to make a return at either the auditions or as a judge on the entire series, following numerous rumours Simon Cowell wants her back on the show.
ITV will not yet confirm speculation on the new judges but have confirmed: “Creator Simon Cowell will return to The X Factor for the new series with three new fellow judges being announced in due course.”
