Cheryl Tweedy has got caught up in the World Cup fever gripping the nation, tweeting her happiness over England beating Sweden in their quarter-final match on Saturday.
But the singer’s choice of words in her celebratory post led to her getting more than she’d bargained for as One Direction fans leapt on the message to mock her recent split from Liam Payne.
Cheryl wrote following the match: “The cheers I can hear outside coming from every direction is giving me chills!! #itscomimghome.”
She then received numerous replies referring back to Liam’s old band.
“Not just one direction?” wrote one.
“Well it’s not coming from one direction….. awks,” said another.
“Having from one direction was gettin a bit old, huh?” wrote a third.
Others seized on her reference to the Three Lions anthem to joke about the breakdown of her relationship with Liam.
“Shame Liam won’t be coming home,” wrote one.
“Know one thing that’s not coming home Liam Payne,” said another.
Others slated Cheryl for misspelling “it’s coming home” – as a typo meant she wrote “comimg” – and slammed her for being unable to hold down a relationship.

At the start of the week, Cheryl took to Twitter to announce she was separating from Bear’s father, Liam, 24.

The announcement came after months of speculation that all was not well in the romance.
Cheryl later had to tweet again to defend her mother, Joan, following speculation she’d played a part in the break-up.
Following her football-themed tweet, one follower joked that she would be looking for her next man in the England squad.
Her first husband, Ashley Cole, played for England and Cheryl joined other WAGs including Victoria Beckham to watch all his matches in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
