Fans were shocked on Friday’s Loose Women when former X Factor star Chico Slimani discussed his wife’s weight live on air, joking: “Who ate all the pies?”
But now Daniyela Rakic-Slimani has defended her outspoken husband against criticism, calling it “political correctness gone mad… I am fat!”
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: “People are concentrating on a comment which has been taken totally out of context. All he wanted to do was highlight a common problem which is the obesity epidemic that needs to be addressed across the UK.
She also repeated what her partner of 28 years said, commenting: “Believe it or not, I’m actually a size 22 and because of my slow metabolism, no cartilage and lack of exercise people look at him and look at me and think, ‘who ate all the pies’.
“They may not say it in words but their eyes and expressions don’t lie. The truth is I am fat and I no longer want to be!”
Daniyela also took to Instagram to post a tribute to her husband, writing alongside a couple shot: “My beautiful husband Chico Slimani. I love you ♥️♥️♥️ 💯% always 💋💋”.

It followed Friday’s comments from the 47-year-old star that shocked the Loose Women panel.
The fitness instructor appeared on the daytime ITV show to talk about the stroke that he suffered two weeks ago.
He then joked that people look at him and Daniyela, who is the mother of his two children, and ask: “Who ate all the pies?”.
Chico was explaining that his stroke gave Daniyela the boost to embark on a healthier lifestyle.
He said: “My wife, she is a smoker, she is size 18, she is a very large woman.
“She turned round and said, ‘I’m going to go from block fat to block fit!’ My God, it’s only taken 15 years and a stroke for you to get on that bike.
“I have been banging this drum for years! People look at me, Mr Six Pack and you, and it’s ‘Who ate all the pies?'”
As the audience gasped, he added: “The truth has to be told. We have different body types. She eats less than all of us, she’s just less active and has thyroid [issues].”

We’re glad to hear Daniyela wasn’t upset by his comments – but we’re still not sure it was OK to say in the first place!
