Christine Lampard reveals why she and Frank have ruled out IVF treatment

Loose Women presenter has also hit out at those 'fascinated by her body clock'

Christine Lampard has ruled out undergoing IVF treatment to start a family over concerns it could put her relationship with husband Frank at risk.

The Northern Irish television presenter, 38, has candidly revealed that she will never put pressure on herself to have children and prefers to adopt an attitude of “if it happens, it happens” and if not, she has a wonderful life.

Despite suggesting in December that she was open to exploring IVF, the brunette star has now ruled it out, after watching friends placed under strain while undergoing the treatment.

“That isn’t something we have thought about,” she told The Daily Mail’s You magazine.

“I know friends who have torn themselves apart and jeopardised their relationship because going through IVF was so traumatic and I don’t know if I could do that to myself or Frank.

“I’m not one of those women who was thinking about babies at the age of 18, and when I first met Frank it wasn’t on the agenda.

“If it happens, it happens, but right now all is well in my world as it is.”

Christine and Frank became engaged in Los Angeles in 2011 and married at a ceremony in London just before Christmas 2015.

The Loose Women panellist has been vocal in interviews about the fact she’s constantly asked when or if she will start a family with Frank, who has two daughters, Luna, 11, and ten-year-old Isla from his relationship with ex Elen Rivas.

Speaking on the ITV daytime show last year, she said: “That’s a really big question. It doesn’t bother me, really, but it’s something I would never ask another girl.

“Purely because I have so many friends who have been through terrible struggles to have little babies and you just don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors, and what’s going on in other people’s lives.

“It’s a question I would never ask anyone but I get asked it loads.”

She said on the panel show last December that she hadn’t ruled out IVF but added: “I say that without having gone down that road before.

“I have close friend who have done that and I know it can be very difficult. It can be a very stressful time for couples.

“Luckily though it did work for my friends.”

In June, both Christine and Loose Women co-star Stacey Solomon spoke again about the pressures that can be placed on women to have children.

Stacey even said one such question led to a rather heated discussion with her boyfriend Joe Swash, after she read in an interview he’d shrugged off the idea of kids, and she began to wonder if he actually wanted any more children at all.

“I remember having a conversation with him that evening and saying, ‘do you not want any more children?” she recalled.

“We kind of had a heated debate about a subject that we wouldn’t even be talking about in real life if we’d just met and started a relationship. But I felt I had to pull him up on it and question him as I do want more children.

“Even though we were having a great time and our relationship was doing really well, there was pressure to ask him then and there. But I do also want to stress that most people, I believe, are saying it in a really lovely way. I don’t think there’s any malice in it.”

Stacey is mum to sons Leighton and Zachary from previous relationships, while Joe has a daughter from a former romance.
