He announced the sad news on Twitter

Christoper Biggins has announced the sad news his mum Pam has passed away at the age of 93.

The former I’m A Celebrity winner told his Twitter followers of his loss today in a tweet where he paid tribute to his “darling mother”.

He wrote: “Our beautiful darling mother Pam passed away last night. We would like to thank all the incredible staff at Castle View in Salisbury, who were so kind and attentive to her.”

He added that she kept her humour till the last, writing: “I saw her last week and I said ‘Can you see me Mum’, ‘of course I can you’re so big’. Hysterical to the end.”

Messages of condolences quickly came flooding in for the 69-year-old actor and his younger brother, Sean.

Among them was Strictly star Debbie McGee, who told Christopher she had fond memories of his mum.

Debbie wrote: “I am so sad to the news of your darling Mum. I remember meeting her when we did Family Fortunes and she was so warm and such a hoot. Sending lots of love.”

Christopher, who lost his father, Bill, in 2009, said both his parents worked tirelessly to give him and his brother the best start in life and supported him throughout his career.

“He and my mother Pam worked very, very hard to send me to a private school and they supported me during my early career at Salisbury Rep, when I was on £2 a week,” he told the Salisbury Journal.

“They also supported me very heavily when I was at the Bristol Old Vic.”

His parents had been together for decades after meeting during RAF service and settled in Salisbury to have a family.

Our thoughts are with Christopher and his family.
