Plot twist!

While the series has divided viewers over its implausible plot, millions of Sheridan Smith fans have stuck with the six-part drama – and were rewarded with a plot twist that left them rushing to express their surprise on social media!

We’ve seen cleaners Sam and Jess make the most of the fact that the huge City firm they work for doesn’t appear to have any password-protected computers – prompting them to play rookie insider trading.

While they’ve been successful so far, episode three included tense scenes as their listening device was discovered and all cleaning staff were hauled in for a meeting with the compliance manager.

As the compliance manager told everyone there’d been a security breach in the firm she was investigating, Sam seemed strangely unalarmed and was more excited to hear that Jess had found Blake’s burner phone on which he made all his dodgy investment calls.

Naturally – this is Cleaning Up, we’re talking about! – the phone wasn’t password-protected and Sam was able to access all of Blake’s contacts.

In a bold move, the broke single mum even contacted the man Blake had been working for, Swanny, and set up her own meeting with him with the help of a fake accent and name.

As Sam played with fire, she had no idea that, back at the office, the compliance manager Frances was inspecting the CCTV and had noticed Sam and Jess acting very suspiciously.

As Sam arrived at her meeting with Swanny and Graeme, she was shocked when the office’s compliance manager walked in after her, proving that SHE too is involved in the scam.

And if it had have been EastEnders, that would have been the Duff Duff moment!
