Coleen Nolan breaks down after trolls tell her to ‘die like your sister’

She said she's received "revolting" messages from trolls since the incident

Coleen Nolan burst into tears on Tuesday’s This Morning as she discussed her recent row with Kim Woodburn and the vicious trolling she’s received.

Last week, Coleen and Kim became embroiled in a furious row on Loose Women with Kim, 76, storming off set in tears after trying to bury the hatchet with Coleen, following their falling out on Celebrity Big Brother last year.

Coleen, 53, was on This Morning to talk about the news that she’s going solo for the first time ever for a 36-date tour but, of course, was asked about the Kim incident.

Reflecting on the argument with Kim, Coleen said: “Honestly, I don’t know what to say. If I could go back in time, I would change the whole thing because it was never meant to be like that.

“I genuinely thought she was coming on to make amends, that’s what I was told was going to happen, that we were going to have a laugh about it. And it didn’t go that way, obviously.”

Coleen said she and her Loose Women co-stars were “so shocked” by the incident as none of them wanted that outcome.

She continued: “I don’t like to see anybody in that much distress, like [Kim] was at the end. It’s been the worst week of my life actually.”

The singer then broke down in tears as she told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I’m so sorry, I didn’t think I was going to cry.”

Talking about the backlash she’s faced since Kim’s interview, Coleen said: “I don’t know what I did wrong. I didn’t say anything, I said about two things in that interview because I know what she’s like.

“She needs help really and I feel terribly sorry for her. I’ve never called her names and she’s called me every name under the sun.

“I can deal with that, but to be called a bully and then to have messages saying, ‘why can’t you die like your sister’ and ‘why can’t you get cancer like your sister’,” referring to her sister Bernie’s tragic passing in 2013.

On the trolls who send her “revolting” messages, Coleen continued: “There’s a campaign to get me fired. They talk about me being a bully and they send me these revolting messages to the point where I cancelled everything last week and I said to my kids, ‘I don’t want to do [the job] anymore.’

“It’s not right. I think I’m strong and I’ve dealt with trolls before. They wonder why kids’ mental health is out of control. It’s revolting bullying. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”

Wiping tears away from her eyes, Coleen added: “I would never wish harm on Kim, I don’t hate Kim. We’ll never be friends and that’s fine but I would never set out to bully her.

“Do I react sometimes to being called everything she calls me? Yes. Sometimes I laugh because I think she’s got a point. It’s just been a really hard week.”

Following the incident last week, Kim released a statement saying she felt “incredibly sad” and “disappointed” over how the interview panned out.

A spokesperson for Loose Women said: “Kim agreed to come onto the panel today at the invitation of the producers on the understanding it was for a reconciliation with Coleen.

“Kim becoming upset was never the intention and the panel did endeavour to comfort her. She was offered counselling after the show, which she declined.”
