Coleen Nolan has revealed she may split from her husband Ray Fensome as they have grown apart.
The Loose Women panellist said that she “won’t lie” about the state of her relationship after 17 years, adding that it’s now in “crisis”.
The 51-year-old former singer told The Sunday Mirror: “We’re going to do a lot of talking over the next couple of weeks, but if we can’t fix it then I want us to have counselling.
“The next step is a trial separation.”
Coleen wants to try to work through their issues over the Christmas period and has insisted that she does not see a trial separation as a failure.
“It would be more of a failure if we just ignored it and carried on.
“We’ve been in this position before and hopefully we can come through it again,” she said.
Coleen added that Ray’s job as a musician has meant he has been away from home a lot over the past year, meaning that “things have changed massively” for the couple.
She said: “The kids are older and need us less and Ray’s job has taken him away more.
“But instead of evolving with those changes, our relationship has just hit a wall and it’s only when you’re thrown together again you realise the connection you once had is gone.
“We’d spend hours sitting at opposite ends of the couch not talking and we’d go to bed at different times.
“The house would be empty apart from the two of us and I’d realise we hadn’t spoken to each other for days.”
Coleen has two children from her previous marriage to Shane Richie, and a daughter – Ciara – with Ray, to whom she has been married since 2007.
